Getting married in the new year, but still unsure about the details? The biggest 2020 wedding trends are here to give you some inspiration!

Unconventional weddings

It’s a great time to be an unconventional bride, with couples regularly straying away from traditional ceremonies, princess dresses, and standard venues.

As Elizabeth Walshe of Weddings by Elizabeth Walshe, says, couples today are “more inclined to choose modern, contemporary celebrations creating an ambiance or a mood as opposed to being led by trends, colors, and themes.”

So give some serious thought to what you want your wedding day to feel like, and then go all in!

Statement veils

2020 is the year of the statement veil, with brides set to follow into the footsteps of Hailey Bieber, whose ‘Till Death Do Us Part’ veil made headlines when she married Justin Bieber in October 2019. Consider adding quotes, messages or even song lyrics to a custom veil – or with playing with other patterns or images that mean something to you.

Casual wedding dresses and separates

If you want to look stunning but don’t feel comfortable with a traditional wedding dress you’re in luck! Wedding dresses in 2020 are getting more casual – appealing to women who don’t want to be too ‘bridal’, but are still looking for something special. Designers are beginning to embrace a much wider range of styles for wedding outfits – from simple silhouettes to separates.

Ring shopping

One of the biggest wedding trends for 2020 is the trend of couples choosing rings together – both wedding bands and engagement rings. Like Mia Moross, founder of The One I Love NYC, says, “it’s important that it’s a ring that both of you love, so it symbolizes the taste of the person giving it as well as of the one receiving it.”

There is also a move towards more unique rings and vintage pieces as people seek out a one-off that speaks to them rather than buying something off the rack. There is also likely to be a surge in yellow-gold bands and cushion-cut diamonds.

Sustainability

As people become more aware of the need to be environmentally conscious, we’re also seeing a move towards more sustainable weddings. That means picking venues that minimize travel, choosing eco-conscious catering companies that source their ingredients responsibly and work to minimize food waste, and making sure that everything, from tablecloths to invitations and place settings, is made from recyclable materials.
